Dolly's 12th Birthday Cake
September is always a weird one in our house.
It's fraught with the back to school blues and end of summer sadness. Buuuutt... It's also Dolly's birthday. And that has always been a super fun time for us!
Dolly loves a good cake, with candles and blowing them out session. She loves it when you sing happy birthday at the top of your lungs, all for her and her very special day. This year my girl, my small baby Doll turned 12.
She turned TWELVE YEARS OLD yesterday... twelve...
12... pass the tissues please...
I cannot believe it. Nor am I coping very well with the fact that she is growing up way to fast right before my eyes. I have asked her nicely to stop growing. To stop becoming this wonderful little lady I see changing every day. This girl who is changing and maturing and turning into a teenager, a lovely young lady with hopes and dreams and aspirations... sniff...
I want my baby back. My little girl I could play silly games and have tea party's with. My little girl who'd ask me to snuggle up beside her and read her one of her favourite books. My girl, who would prance around in all my clothes, playing dress up.
Now she's looking at what she can borrow to wear, what fits her. What isn't lame or old. Now she's looking at makeup and lip gloss and mascara and seeing she can use them "for real" too. She's looking at my shoes, my handbags, my accessories... She's like a magpie.
She is one of the proudest moments of my life. She is my perfect little Dolly in every way.
She is my now, twelve year old little girl.
She is also the biggest chocoholic you will ever meet. Nothing chocolate is too rich, luscious, sickening for this girl. She can fairly pack it away and only for I control her intake... She wouldn't have a tooth left in her head.
But it being her birthday and all, she was allowed to splurge! The above concoction is a very decadent, chocolate fudge cake, with chocolate fudge oreo frosting, smothered in chocolate fudge ganache, surrounded by kit-kats and topped with malteasers!
Oh laaaawd... It was insane! And eaten by the hoard of hungry chocolate monsters that descended on my home for a little tea party to mark the occasion. It made Dolly and the crew very, very happy.
That means my job, is done.
Happy Birthday to my favourite daughter. My favourite girl in the house. My Dolly.
