It feels like the summer was ages ago! And what a summer it was... Great weather, fun times, holidays and mucking about in the great outdoors... Memories to last forever!
But today my friends is Tea Party Tuesday over on the gorgeous Sarah Jane's blog and I have a very special treat to share with you.
This past weekend my lovely friend Michelle had her owl themed baby shower. A lovely little tea party held in one of our local museums.
It was an absolute hoot!!! (sorry... couldn't resist!)
I was asked to bake cupcakes for the guests with the brief being they'd be blue, for her little bundle of boy on his way in two weeks and owl themed.
I have this new found love of fondant and I started messing about with shapes and cutters and came up with the above little owls to adorn the very rich, dark, blue velvet cupcakes. I made the cupcakes the exact same way I do my Red Velvet's, just swapping out the red for the blue. Blue is a hard one to get right so I start by tinting my batter with a bit of violet and then add the blue until I get right dark blue colour. I topped them with the ever delicious vanilla bean buttercream frosting and packed them off to the party...
But aren't they super cute? I am so happy that they looked like owls... for a while I was worried that the didn't and asked many random visitors to the house what they thought they were. They all agreed on owls so I was happy and so relieved... Is that a bit mad or what??
Happy Tuesday folks! What tea party goodness have you to share with us this week?
